chelsea physic garden

Behind a tall brick wall in Chelsea, is a not-so-secret garden, where a maze of shingle pathways lead you past exotic plants, trees and flowers from all across the world. Wooden benches line the pathways, and the picturesque pond deep within is an ideal place to stop and soak up some sun. A statue of Sir Hans Sloane marks the centre, in front of which a luscious lawn provides a pleasant picnic spot. Adults relax on the grass while their youngsters play happily around them. The cafe beyond serves indulgent cakes and cappuccinos on the outdoor terrace, and there’s a small shop for a souvenir or two. A lovely secluded spot to while away a sunny Sunday afternoon.
