so long Stamford Brook

It’s been just over two years since Tom and I made our first baby-steps toward suburbia by moving to leafy Stamford Brook, but we’re on the move again as we’ve finally bought our very own flat in Mortlake, South-West London. Living in Stamford Brook has been really enjoyable, and we’ll be sad to leave our church flat behind, but a new chapter of our lives is beginning – very soon two will become three – so we need that all-important second bedroom and a place to properly call our own.

Moving to within close proximity of Shepherd’s Bush was a bit like coming back to my roots for me. My nan lived her early years in nearby Gayford Road, my mum grew up in Thorpebank Road and we even found out that relations of my nan’s got married in St Mary’s Church way before it was converted into flats! We’ve settled into the area well over the past couple of years – it’s perfect for walking to places like Westfield, Hammersmith and Chiswick High Road.

Over the past few months I’ve been writing reviews for Weekend Notes, and pretty much all of the places I’ve written about are within striking distance of Stamford Brook. Click below to read about my three favourite local pubs:

The Duchess of Cambridge

The Anglesea Arms

The Carpenters Arms

And for local eateries, these three definitely hit the spot:

Charm

Punto

Kathmandu Inn

For open space, nearby Ravenscourt Park is very enjoyable, especially in the summer months, and the River Thames is a short walk away too.
