Tabitha’s Birthday Wish – Children’s Writers Group entry

Members of the Children’s Writers Facebook Group are invited to submit a 100 word story with the theme BIRTHDAY. Here’s my entry:

Another lockdown birthday,

First seven and now eight.

No family or friends again,

My party has to wait.

Dad says: “You must be patient,

And celebrate with few.

Soon our trip to DisneyLand,

Will finally come true.”

Mum says: “I’m very hopeful,

The finish line’s in sight.

The NHS have worked so hard,

To win this Covid fight.”

We celebrate my special day,

Me and Mum and Dad,

Doorstep visits, Facetimes,

I say: “It’s not all bad!”

And as I blow eight candles,

I make a wish, all mine…

“I wish to hug my Nana,

Before birthday number nine!”
