The Mix ‘n’ Match Mini Writing Challenge (Take 2) – week 4

For week 4 of Susanna Leonard Hill’s mix ‘n’ match writing challenge, writers were invited to rework a well-known song/rhyme with a new theme. I chose Row, Row, Row Your Boat and the theme ‘If you don’t succeed the first time, try again’. Here’s my attempt:

Ride, ride, ride my bike,

Slowly down the yard,

Shakily, shakily, shakily, shakily,

Riding bikes is hard.

Ride, ride, ride my bike,

Weakly down the trail,

Wobbly, wobbly, wobbly, wobbly,

Surely set to fail.

Ride, ride, ride my bike,

Calmly down the way,

Steadily, steadily, steadily, steadily,

Keep my nerves at bay.

Ride, ride, ride my bike,

Soundly down the street,

Happily, happily, happily, happily,

Think I’ve found my feet.

Ride, ride, ride my bike,

Swiftly down the lane,

If at first you don’t succeed,

Try and try again!
